Lady G in law suit

A lawyer for Lady Gaga has responded to a suit filed by her former boyfriend and collaborator, Rob Fusari, who accused her of not giving him his full share of royalties and other fees. On Friday Charles Ortner, a lawyer for the singer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, made public papers he filed in court saying that her agreement with Mr. Fusari was “unlawful,” and that the contract was “structured in such a way as to mask its true purpose — to provide to the defendants unlawful compensation for their services as unlicensed employment agents,” The Associated Press reported. In an e-mail message to The A.P. last week, Robert S. Meloni, a lawyer for Mr. Fusari, said, “Rob was no more of an ‘agent’ for her than she is a Roman Catholic nun.” Mr. Fusari, who helped write Lady Gaga songs including “Paparazzi” and “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich,” is asking for $30.5 million in compensation.

FUNNY QUOTES

Health care reform looked like sausage being made? I wish. This was more like watching beetle larvae, snail guts, lizard tripe and cephalopod eyeballs mixed in with sour cream. – Will Durst, San Francisco

Sandra Bullock’s husband is undergoing psychological treatment for infidelity. But given that the other woman’s got more tattoos on her body than a wall of subway graffiti, he nearly went crazy during the Rorschach. – Tulla Brendingulo

Larry King was spotted driving around L.A. in his convertible with the rapper Snoop Dogg in the passenger’s seat. Snoop was being a good sport about it, but he just couldn’t sync his legs with Larry’s, and his “yabba-dabba-doo” was pathetic. – Bill Williams

The center Zydrunas Ilgauskas has signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He had to make a tough choice; he could either get a $100,000 signing bonus or have all of the letters in his name sewn on his jersey. – Jerry Perisho, Whittier, Calif.

A Virginia physician has been arrested on suspicion of selling steroids to the Washington Nationals. These steroids obviously didn’t work. — Alex Schubert, Cincinnati

A New Human Group?

A previously unknown kind of human group vanished from the world so completely that it has left behind the merest wisp of evidence that it ever existed — a single bone from the little finger of a child, buried in a cave in the Altai mountains of southern Siberia.

Get Science News From The New York Times » Researchers extracted DNA from the bone and reported Wednesday that it differed conspicuously from that of both modern humans and of Neanderthals, the archaic human species that inhabited Europe until the arrival of modern humans on the continent some 44,000 years ago.

The child who carried the DNA lineage was probably 5 to 7 years old, but it is not yet known if it was a boy or a girl. The finger bone was excavated by Russian archaeologists in 2008 from a place known as the Denisova cave.

LEAGALIZEIN' MARY JANE????

On Wednesday, the California secretary of state certified a November vote on a ballot measure that would legalize, tax and regulate marijuana, a plan that advocates say could raise $1.4 billion and save precious law enforcement and prison resources.

Indeed, unlike previous efforts at legalization — including a failed 1972 measure in California — the 2010 campaign will not dwell on assertions of marijuana’s harmlessness or its social acceptance, but rather on cold cash.

Can inhaling sharpies make you high?

According to NIDA’s scientists, the answer is yes. Permanent markers contain chemicals called solvents. When inhaled, these solvents can produce a “high.” Like alcohol, inhalants including Sharpies can cause slurred speech, lack of coordination, euphoria, and dizziness. Unfortunately, the chemicals that cause these effects can also make you sick, kill your brain cells, and damage your nerves.

my Top Five American Serial Killers.

1.Charles Manson-
His first murder was that of Sharon Tate, wife of director Roman Polanski. The next was the LaBianca family. He was sentenced to death but later reduced to life imprisonment, when California Supreme Court eliminated death penalties temporarily. He is currently an inmate at Corcoran State Prison.
2.Ted Bundy-
Police counted 15 women as his victims. Gein told the police that he never had sex with any of the dead women as “they smelled too bad.” His fascination with women was because of the power they held over men. Gein was admitted to Waupan State Hospital and died of cancer at the age of 78
3.Richard angelo-
Angelo was a killer with a different mindset from all others. He made the entire nation scared of hospitals. The desire to be a hero in others’ eyes made him a monster. He was 26 when he went to work at the Good Samaritan Hospital on Long Island in New York. He was a former Eagle Scout and always tried to do good things and help others.
4.Albert Fish-
Albert Fish may have been America’s most vile pedophile, serial killer, and cannibal. He is known by many names — Gray Man, Brooklyn Vampire, The Boogeyman, and the Werewolf of Wysteria. He was a gentle-looking and benevolent grandfather, a total contrast to the monster within him. His wife considered him a wonderful husband and his children believed he was a model father. Some of his crimes seem unbelievable.
5.Belle Sorenson Gunness-
Unlike many other female killers, Gunness didn’t poison her victims — she slaughtered them. She was a 42-year-old Norwegian immigrant who purchased a property in La Porte, Indiana using her first husband’s insurance after his death. Her husband and two of her children were said to have died mysteriously, although she wasn’t suspected. After moving to La Porte with the rest of her children, she married Peter Gunness who died after just nine months. She collected another insurance payment. Over the next few years, other men that came into her life vanished without trace.
She became famous for being a black widow — killing several of her husbands, ranch workers and adopted children.
